Job Description
Our establishment is a compassionate and dedicated funeral service provider located in Waco, Texas. We specialize in assisting families through some of the most challenging moments by offering comprehensive funeral services that honor lives and celebrate legacies. Our commitment to excellence and empathy is reflected in every interaction, ensuring that each family receives personalized and respectful care throughout the funeral arrangement and service processes. As a funeral home operating within the community, we adhere strictly to local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and compliance within the death care industry.
We are currently seeking a licensed Funeral Director to join our team. This critical role involves facilitating funeral arrangements discussions with the deceased's next of kin, presiding over visitation, funeral, and graveside services, and ensuring that all services reflect the family’s wishes as well as company expectations and legal requirements. The Funeral Director will also handle responsibilities related to embalming where applicable, maintaining mortuary, health, and vital statistics compliance. This position requires an individual who combines empathy, organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of funeral service operations to guide families through their grieving process with dignity and respect.
The Funeral Director initiates and manages the arrangements conference by receiving calls, scheduling appointments, and directly communicating with families to understand their needs, including any specific requests such as languages and cultural preferences. They oversee the removal or transfer of the deceased, ensuring respectful care and maintaining proper documentation using proprietary software. The Funeral Director acts as Master of Ceremonies during services, ensures the proper preparation of the deceased, and coordinates all aspects of funeral events including life insurance discussions, merchandise promotion, and contract finalization. In the absence of a Funeral Services Counselor or Advisor, the Funeral Director may assume those responsibilities as well.
This role also involves a variety of event planning tasks such as organizing floral arrangements, music, catering, and multimedia memorial products. The Funeral Director oversees the setup and cleanup of event spaces, and may perform attendant duties such as driving or ushering. Community involvement through representing the establishment at local or charity events is also encouraged.
Moreover, the Funeral Director carries out embalming duties by caring for the deceased with utmost respect, following strict protocols to embalm and prepare the body, apply cosmetics, dress the deceased, and maintain a clean and safe preparation environment. They ensure that all hazardous waste is properly disposed of and that necessary supplies are inventoried and reordered.
As part of general responsibilities, the Funeral Director works under general guidance and collaborates with peers and managers to uphold regulatory compliance and company standards. Continuous learning, accountability, and adaptability to changing work environments or requirements are essential. This position requires flexibility, as services often occur outside regular business hours, including nights and weekends.
This is a full-time opportunity located in Waco, TX with an attractive compensation package reflective of the specialized nature of the role. Candidates must hold current dual licensure as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in the practicing state and have a valid driver’s license. Prior industry experience is preferred. If you possess a compassionate nature, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing top-tier funeral care services, we invite you to join our team and support families with care and dignity.
