The Store Associate role at ALDI is a full-time position requiring 30 or more hours per week, starting with a competitive wage of $18.00 per hour with annual wage increases leading up to $20.00 per hour in the fifth year. This role is vital in enhancing the customer shopping experience through merchandising, stocking, cashiering, and ensuring the store is clean and orderly. Store Associates play a fundamental role in promoting ALDI's customer service principles by working collaboratively with team members to deliver exceptional service and efficient store operations.

As a Store Associate, you will be responsible for operating the point-of-sale system accurately, supporting curbside pickup orders, and maintaining merchandising standards that align with the company’s planograms to maximize sales. You will also identify and report outdated or damaged products, assist in loss prevention, and support store management goals related to operational efficiency and total loss control. Your responsibilities include stocking shelves neatly, maintaining store zones, adhering to inventory and product handling procedures, and performing general cleaning tasks to uphold ALDI's store presentation standards.

The physical demands of this role involve pushing, pulling, standing, reaching, lifting up to 45 pounds, and stocking products in varying temperatures, including freezers and coolers. Familiarity with store equipment such as floor scrubbers, cardboard balers, and pallet jacks is essential. Besides physical aspects, the ability to provide prompt, courteous customer service and efficiently handle tasks within established timeframes is critical.

Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years old required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
  • Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc
  • Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and with others
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks to maximize productivity within established timeframes
  • Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to meet availability requirements

Job Duties

  • Model and fulfill all customer service principles and escalate concerns to store management as necessary
  • Inform store management of loss due to outdated or damaged products
  • Properly utilize the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and inform store management of scanning concerns or errors
  • Adhere to cash policies and procedures
  • Follow the line policy and open additional check lanes as required to ensure an efficient checkout
  • Stock shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales
  • Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers' vehicles from the staging area
  • Maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times
  • Assist store management in achieving operational efficiency goals
  • Assist store management in achieving total loss goals
  • Comply with all established company policies and processes
  • Support store management in providing a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order
  • Adhere to inventory procedures and product handling guidelines
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to company standards
