Located in Lincoln, Nebraska, Immanuel Communities operates the Grand Lodge, a residential community featuring 109 independent living apartments and 10 assisted living apartment homes. We are currently seeking an experienced, full-time Sous Chef to join our culinary team at the Grand Lodge. This role is crucial in delivering a high standard of food quality and service to our residents and guests. The Sous Chef will work primarily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, requiring flexibility for weekends and holidays, including Sunday morning shifts to support brunch service. This position is not entry-level and demands previous cooking experience beyond fast food or fast casual dining.
The Sous Chef at Immanuel Communities will oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation from scratch, baking, grilling, stove-top and oven cooking, and maintaining cleanliness and organization. They will play a pivotal role in managing kitchen staff, handling inventory, and supporting special events, ensuring a positive and efficient team environment. Emphasis is placed on strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. This role offers an hourly wage of up to $25.00, based on experience, certifications, skills, and education, complemented by one of the best-in-class benefits programs available. Job Requirements
- At least two years of cooking experience beyond fast food or fast casual dining
- Proven ability to prepare recipes from scratch
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Availability to work weekends including Sunday morning shifts
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to receive feedback
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a kitchen environment
- BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- Minimum age of 19 years
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
