Spring Lake Park Schools is a vibrant and growing school district located in the northern Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, serving approximately 6,200 students from the suburban communities of Blaine, Fridley, and Spring Lake Park. Known for its commitment to high expectations and high achievement, the district fosters an environment where each student's unique needs are met with personalized learning tailored for success. Through a culture of innovation and creativity driven by human-centered design thinking, Spring Lake Park Schools empowers teachers and staff to explore new methodologies and processes aimed at enhancing student engagement and improving educational outcomes continuously. This strong educational foundation and supportive community environment make Spring Lake Park Schools an exceptional place to work, learn, and grow.
The Nutrition Services Associate position is a full-time, district-wide role designed to support the dietary needs of students and staff across several school locations, including Centerview Elementary, Northpoint Elementary, Woodcrest Spanish Immersion Elementary, Park Terrace Elementary, Westwood School, and Spring Lake Park High School. This role requires a highly dependable individual who is committed to providing exceptional customer service while preparing and serving nutritious meals that meet strict food safety and sanitation regulations. The position involves rotation among elementary, middle, and high school settings, promoting versatility and a comprehensive understanding of food service operations throughout the district.
The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the high school manager or other designated personnel and will be responsible for daily meal production tasks such as cooking, baking, and steaming, while also providing leadership and training to food service staff. Key responsibilities include monitoring revenue, maintaining accurate records, implementing new food products and procedures to increase participation, and ensuring compliance with all safety standards and regulations, including HACCP guidelines. The role demands physical stamina, such as the ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and the use of computer software to manage student meal accounts.
This position supports a full 181-day school calendar with 168 student contact days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 preparatory days. The work schedule encompasses 6 hours per day. An attractive starting wage of $21.55 per hour is offered, with additional pay incentives for certified food managers and longevity. Benefits provided include sick leave, medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability, and a 403b retirement plan. The position also involves professional development opportunities to support ongoing learning and performance improvement.
For candidates who are passionate about nutrition, safety, and contributing to a school community, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of students and staff in a supportive and collaborative environment. Spring Lake Park Schools is an equal opportunity employer, ensuring all individuals have access to employment opportunities regardless of personal background or status.
