Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences across its diverse portfolio of brands. Among these is Courtyard by Marriott, a hotel brand specifically designed for business travelers that combines comfort, convenience, and efficiency to meet the varying needs of its guests. Located at 1520 NW 114th St, Clive, Iowa, the Courtyard hotel offers a dynamic working environment for its associates, emphasizing teamwork, growth, and service excellence.
The role being offered is a full-time Overnight Front Desk Associate position at the Courtyard by Marriott in Clive, Iowa. This non-management role is essential in ensuring a seamless overnight operation and providing guests with a warm, efficient, and professional check-in and check-out experience. Scheduled from 11 PM to 7 AM, Sunday through Thursday, this position requires availability for overnight work with a competitive hourly wage of $17.50. Employees in this role benefit from weekly pay, global employee discounts, and performance-driven sellout bonuses.
As a Front Desk Associate, the primary responsibility is to complete end-of-day activities, which include posting charges to guest accounts, running night audit backups, and rolling the date in the system. The associate will process all types of payments, including room charges, cash, checks, debit, and credit, along with handling adjustment vouchers, paid-outs, correction vouchers, and miscellaneous charges. This position involves maintaining accurate contingency lists to prepare for any emergencies and selling rooms or accommodations to guests without reservations, contingent upon availability.
In addition to these financial and administrative tasks, the associate manages telecommunications duties such as operating the telephone switchboard, processing wake-up call requests, and conveying guest messages promptly. The position also requires completing the Room Rate Variance Report to ensure accurate pricing and revenue management. A significant aspect of the role is to assist guests during check-in, assign rooms, and activate or reissue room keys using electronic key machines, ensuring a smooth and customer-friendly experience.
Attention to detail is crucial as the associate must count and secure the bank at the end of the shift, balance and deposit receipts according to Accounting standards, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of work areas, including stocking and inspecting materials before use. Safety and professionalism are prioritized, requiring the associate to report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, adhere to all company policies, uphold a neat and professional appearance, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
Guest interaction is a core component of this job, where associates are expected to welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guest needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation. Communication skills are vital for speaking with clarity and professionalism and answering phones with proper etiquette. The role also fosters a collaborative work environment where positive relationships within the team support achieving common goals. Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and to perform various movements such as bending, twisting, pulling, standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
Joining Marriott and Courtyard means becoming part of a diverse, inclusive, and supportive global team dedicated to hospitality excellence. The company values individual backgrounds and experiences, promoting an equal opportunity workplace free from discrimination. This position is ideal for candidates seeking entry-level roles in hotel operations with less than one year of related experience and those eager to develop their skills in a well-respected international hospitality brand.
