The role of a Housekeeper at Ventana by Buckner, located in Dallas, TX, is vital to maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall comfort of the community’s residents and staff. Operating on-site with a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, this position plays a key role in upholding high standards of housekeeping aligned with Buckner’s quality, service, and hospitality benchmarks. The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of cleaning duties, from servicing resident rooms, bathrooms, and offices to maintaining floors and common areas with meticulous care. The Housekeeper’s responsibilities also extend to minor repairs, replenishing supplies, and assisting other departments like dietary when needed.

This position requires a thorough understanding of housekeeping operations, including the use of cleaning equipment and chemicals with safety in mind. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior housekeeping experience preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • physical ability to perform cleaning tasks and move equipment safely
  • ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to work onsite Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • commitment to provide excellent customer service and hospitality
  • ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Qualifications

  • Requires in-depth understanding of all phases of housekeeping operations
  • prior related experience preferred
  • basic knowledge of house cleaning devices such as brooms, mops, cleaning agents, and sanitation/cleaning requirements
  • preferred ability to read, write, and understand business documents written in English
  • ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers
  • ability to make self clearly understood by others
  • ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions
  • ability to move cleaning equipment throughout the facility daily
  • ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Performs all duties in a courteous manner and maintains excellence in customer service including but not limited to cheerfully greeting residents and visitors and exercising respect with co-workers
  • cleans and services rooms, baths, and offices
  • dusts furniture and equipment
  • cleans windows, window sills, light globes
  • empties trash baskets and removes trash
  • cleans and polishes bathtubs, sinks, mirrors, and similar items
  • replenishes supplies of soap and towels
  • cleans and polishes brass, glass panels, doors, partitions, and paneling
  • checks and fills all dispensers – hand soap, paper
  • cleans, mops, and treats floors
  • strips, waxes, and buffs floors as needed
  • vacuums all carpet
  • shampoos carpet as directed
  • mixes/dilutes housekeeping chemicals and products according to instructions
  • moves furniture as needed in accordance with safety policies and procedures
  • makes minor repairs and adjustments
  • replaces light bulbs
  • repairs clogged sinks, commodes, or drains
  • assists dietary unit as needed with set ups, clean up, policing spills during meals, etc.
  • keeps utility storage rooms in good order by cleaning lockers and equipment, arranging supplies, and sweeping and mopping floor
  • organizes and maintains linen closets in a safe and orderly condition at all times
  • reports issues of department equipment when it is not in good working condition in accordance with manufacturer’s operational standards
  • detects and corrects, or reports, hazardous conditions that have a possibility of causing accidents or injuries to residents, employees, or visitors
