Westminster Canterbury is seeking a dedicated Cook I to join their culinary team in a full-time capacity. This role is crucial in delivering fresh, high-quality, and nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents. The Cook I will operate in a dynamic kitchen environment, preparing and cooking foods to order that require short preparation times. Responsibilities include managing an a la carte station or grill station, following precise food preparation and safety guidelines in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards. The position demands conscientious adherence to basic recipes and product directions, ensuring meals are seasoned, cooked, and presented to the highest quality, enhancing the dining experience of every customer.

- Previous cooking experience preferred (0-2 years)
- Good working knowledge of food preparation
- Serve Safe certificate required or must be willing to obtain within 6 months
- Knowledge of food handling and safety procedures
- Ability to work well with all types of individuals

Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time
- May produce food and serve customers at an a la carte station or may operate a grill station
- Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Reads food order or received verbal instructions on food required by customers, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions
- Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times
- Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
- Prepares foods under direct supervision or instruction by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use
- Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, check production, and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all Westminster Canterbury, client and regulatory rules and procedures
