Job Description
Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is a leading Fortune 100 home improvement retailer operating over 1,700 stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers across the United States. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's serves millions of customers each week, providing a wide range of products and services to help people improve, maintain, and enjoy their homes. With total fiscal year 2025 sales exceeding $86 billion, Lowe's employs approximately 300,000 associates who are dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences and supporting the communities in which they operate. The company is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, encouraging bilingual, military, and veteran talent to become part of its team. Lowe's is also known for its commitment to corporate social responsibility through programs focused on safe and affordable housing, community improvement, skills development in trades, and disaster relief efforts.
The role of a Cashier at Lowe's is essential in ensuring that every customer leaves the store satisfied. Cashiers serve as a vital touchpoint between Lowe's and its customers, providing a fast, friendly, and professional checkout experience. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment. Cashiers are responsible not only for handling transactions at the register but also for assisting customers in the self-checkout area, answering questions, managing payments and exchanges, and maintaining a clean and safe workstation. While the majority of work is conducted at the register, cashiers may also support other departments, stock shelves, or participate in the organization of carts as needed.
Lowe's supports its employees by offering flexible schedules suitable for part-time or full-time work arrangements. Additionally, the company provides competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including multiple top-tier health insurance options, tuition assistance programs, a company-matching 401(k) plan, an Employee Stock Purchase Program, and a generous 10% associate discount. There are also unique opportunities for personal and professional growth such as the "Track to the Trades" program designed to help associates learn new trade skills.
Working conditions can vary by location and may include exposure to a range of weather conditions, noise levels, and physical activities involving lifting and equipment handling. Safety guidelines restrict heavy lifting to a maximum of 75 pounds for single lifts with team lifts used beyond this weight, and powered equipment is used with appropriate training.
This cashier position does not generally require regular travel, but occasional travel might be necessary for meetings, training sessions, or to support other store locations. The role privileges those who enjoy helping customers, solving problems, and thriving in dynamic environments. Lowe's offers a welcoming and inclusive workplace, emphasizing equal opportunity in all personnel practices without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, age, or other protected categories.
