As a member of the Silverado culinary team, the Cook plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents through the preparation and presentation of nourishing, delicious meals tailored to their unique dietary needs. This full-time position involves working the PM shift from Friday to Monday, with an anticipated pay range of $24 to $29 USD per hour. The Cook is responsible for preparing meals with care and attention to dietary restrictions, ensuring food quality, presentation, and timeliness, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen environment. The role requires flexibility to modify meals as prescribed to meet individual nutritional requirements and the ability to operate safely and efficiently within a team-oriented setting. Job Requirements
- Reliable transportation to meet attendance and punctuality standards
- Active role involving walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work with individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Minimum 1 year of relevant cooking experience
- High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to follow recipes and nutritional guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking including grilling, sautéing, broiling, frying, baking
- Food Handlers Certificate from the County Department of Environmental Health
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Effective communicator in verbal and written English
- Ability to read and follow menus and recipes including substitutions
- Willingness to work with individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
- Comfortable working around animals and pets
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve meals for residents in accordance with dietary needs
- Ensure accuracy, quality, presentation, and timeliness of food items
- Modify meals as directed to meet individual nutritional requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen
- Perform other duties as needed to support the culinary team
