The role available at The GIANT Company is centered around deli and prepared foods production within their retail store environment located in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. This position involves a broad range of food preparation duties such as making sandwiches, subs, wraps, roasting or frying chicken and appetizers, heating soups, making pizza, as well as transferring deli food to case containers with proper labeling and merchandising according to company standards and plan-o-grams (POG). The team member in this role will play a key part in maintaining food quality and presentation while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOP).

This job requires meticulous attention to detail for production planning, cleaning, sanitizing, and record keeping to maintain a safe and clean work environment. The individual will be responsible for operating various kitchen equipment such as roasting ovens and fryers, as well as handling inventory and product orders. Teamwork is crucial as the role involves training fellow team members and assisting customers directly with deli services.

The position demands physical endurance with tasks involving lifting up to 50 pounds and working in environments ranging from freezer temperatures to non-air-conditioned back rooms. Safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as cut-resistant gloves when using knives, handling hazardous materials safely, and following emergency procedures are essential components of this job.

Job Requirements

  • Must complete and follow Personal Protective Equipment requirements including cut-resistant gloves
  • Must complete and follow Lockout/Tagout training
  • Must complete and follow Confined Space training
  • Must complete Right-to-Know training
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand for 55 percent of shift and walk for 45 percent
  • Must be able to work shifts of minimum 4 hours or more
  • Must comply with company apparel and footwear policy
  • Must report all accidents and unsafe conditions
  • Must know emergency evacuation routes and alarms
  • Must demonstrate proper food safety and sanitation work habits
  • Must use proper lifting procedures
  • Must maintain clean floors and work areas
  • Must never leave running machinery unattended
  • Must work in smoke free environment except designated areas
  • Employees must understand and follow company policies and procedures
  • Must know MSDS information about materials used
  • Must be able to work in temperature environments from freezer to non-air-conditioned areas

Job Duties

  • Review work schedule and prepare equipment and supplies at the start of shift
  • Manage production planning
  • Complete invoice review
  • Produce food products for sales floor warmers and hot bar as per plan-o-gram and standard operating procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work surfaces, tools, equipment, display cases, floors, and counters
  • Complete food safety compliance logs daily
  • Track and record loss using known loss tracking
  • Train team members
  • Make sandwiches, subs, wraps, label and display as per SOP
  • Make and cook pizza with turbo oven, package and serve
  • Assist customers and handle deli food by cutting, slicing, portioning, weighing and labeling
  • Produce grab and go section products
  • Roast chicken including handling of roaster and oil disposal
  • Fry chicken including cleaning and oil management of fryer
  • Break down and clean specified equipment every 4 hours
  • Order products for smoked program and produce smoked products as per SOP
  • Use cleaning tools and sanitizers to maintain sanitary conditions
  • Perform record-keeping as assigned
  • Track loss, markdowns, and flashfoods
  • Order reviews and upload live freight
  • Execute merchandising programs in prepared foods, $5 and $7 programs, salads and entrees, hot bar, pizza and sandwich made to order
  • Plan weekly circular ad
  • Organize sales floor cooler and freezer
