Job Description
Snowbird is a premier mountain resort located in the heart of the Wasatch Mountain Range in Salt Lake City, Utah. Known for its awe-inspiring natural beauty and challenging terrain, Snowbird offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure and hospitality excellence. This renowned resort operates year-round, with distinctly vibrant summer and winter seasons, making it a sought-after destination for guests seeking exceptional recreational and dining experiences. More than just a resort, Snowbird is a community that values its employees, recognizing them as remarkable individuals who share a mutual passion for the mountains and outdoor lifestyle. The company culture emphasizes teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to providing outstanding service to its patrons. Snowbird offers a variety of employment opportunities including full-time, part-time, seasonal, and year-round positions, catering to different availability and career goals of its workforce.
The Host position at Snowbird's Forklift Restaurant, situated in the resort's center, is a part-time, year-round role essential to delivering exemplary dining experiences to guests. As a host, you will be the welcoming face of the restaurant, responsible for greeting and seating guests warmly, ensuring the flow of guests is managed efficiently through either a waiting list or a reservation system. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills to engage with guests personally, often using guest names to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. You will be tasked with monitoring the dining area to ensure every table is appropriately presented before seating guests, thereby maintaining high standards of service and ambiance.
In addition to greeting and seating guests, you will coordinate closely with servers and managers to resolve any issues promptly, ensuring guest satisfaction is consistently met. This position also involves assisting bussers and servers as needed, contributing to a smooth operational flow. Your role will extend beyond seating to include confirming guests' contentment with their dining experience and addressing complaints professionally and efficiently. The schedule is variable based on business needs, with the restaurant currently operating from 8 am to 3 pm daily, and may require working morning and daytime shifts including weekends and holidays. Additionally, due to the resort's mountain location, there is occasional necessity to stay overnight during unexpected road closures, reflecting the dynamic and sometimes challenging environment of Snowbird.
Candidates for this role need to have a minimum educational qualification equivalent to a high school diploma, possess a food handler permit, and demonstrate competency with dish machines and chemical use. While previous job-specific experience ranging from 0 to 6 months is acceptable, candidates must exhibit competent judgment and problem-solving abilities within established policies and guidelines. Physical requirements of the role include the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs, suited to the fast-paced, high-energy environment typical of a popular mountain resort restaurant. Benefits of working at Snowbird extend beyond the immediate job, including ski passes, discounts on dining, retail, lodging, and daycare services, a 401k retirement plan, and free transportation via multiple shuttle options, all designed to enrich the employee experience and foster a supportive workplace culture.
Snowbird is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, promoting diversity in thought, background, race, sexual orientation, gender, and belief. The resort maintains strict policies regarding professional appearance, drug and alcohol use, and employee conduct, underpinning its commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment. Whether seeking seasonal work, part-time engagements, or year-round career growth, employees at Snowbird find a dynamic, friendly, and rewarding work atmosphere. If you have a passion for the outdoors and delivering exceptional guest service, Snowbird invites you to apply and become part of this remarkable community.
