Job Description

St. Mark's Hospital, a cornerstone of healthcare in Salt Lake City for over 150 years, is part of the renowned HCA Healthcare system. As Utah's first hospital, St. Mark's has grown into a 308-bed facility recognized nationally for its commitment to patient-centered, top-quality care. It has earned accolades as one of the top-performing teaching hospitals in the United States, notably being named to the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals list multiple times. The hospital is well-regarded for its development in specialized clinical service areas including neurosciences, trauma, orthopedics, cardiac care, and robotic surgery. In addition to the main hospital, St. Mark's operates two freestanding emergency centers—Taylorsville Emergency Center and West Valley Emergency Center—that offer 24/7 access to board-certified emergency physicians, advanced imaging services, and a fully equipped medical laboratory.

Nestled at the base of the scenic Wasatch Mountains, the hospital boasts both an urban cultural proximity and direct access to outdoor recreational activities including Utah's celebrated national parks. As part of HCA Healthcare, St. Mark's embraces a strong ethical foundation, having been consistently recognized as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute. HCA Healthcare is strongly invested in community welfare, with an estimated $3.7 billion spent on charitable care, uninsured discounts, and other uncompensated care, underscoring its commitment to giving back.

The Food Services Associate Part-Time position at St. Mark's Hospital plays a vital role in supporting the hospital’s mission by ensuring patients, staff, and visitors receive nutritious, well-prepared meals precisely when needed. Joining this compassionate and hardworking team means becoming part of a setting where nutrition meets caregiving. This role is crucial for the day-to-day operations of the hospital's food and nutrition services, directly impacting patient satisfaction and care quality.

Food Services Associates are responsible for preparing and delivering food trays to patients, accurately taking food orders, and ensuring that dietary restrictions and preferences are strictly followed. They collaborate closely with dietitians by recording daily dietary data and communicating patient-specific nutrition needs. The role extends to assisting with catering events, managing cash register food sales, maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment, receiving and properly storing food shipments, and inventorying stock across the hospital.

This position requires individuals who are dedicated to providing efficient and friendly customer service, ensuring a positive dining experience for every patient and customer. A Food Handlers Permit or ServSafe Certification is mandatory, and experience in food service, hospital diet offices, or cash registers is preferred. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English and successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

In return, St. Mark's Hospital offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and financial security of its employees. This includes medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health coverage, as well as wellness programs, paid time off, retirement savings plans with employer matching, and educational support. The hospital is committed to employee growth and recognizes the importance of balancing work with personal life, offering resources that promote career development and life balance.

Become part of a historic and forward-thinking healthcare organization where your role as a Food Services Associate meaningfully contributes to patient care and community well-being. St. Mark's provides an inclusive and supportive workplace culture, equal opportunity employment, and a chance to help raise the bar in patient care through your dedication and service.
