Chartwells K-12, a leading provider in the educational foodservice industry, is currently hiring for part-time Food Service Worker/Cashier positions at Wethersfield Public Schools located at 51 Willow Street, Wethersfield, Connecticut. Chartwells K-12 serves over 4,300 schools nationwide, ranging from large public institutions to small charter and private schools. The company is known for its commitment to delivering nutritious and appealing meals to students, helping to ensure that children leave the cafeteria happier and healthier each day. With over 16,000 associates, Chartwells K-12 leverages decades of expertise in food service, education, nutrition, culinary arts, wellness, and sustainability to create custom dining programs that meet the needs of the communities they serve.
This part-time role offers a great opportunity to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, with no nights or weekend shifts, and summers off. The job pays between $16.94 and $17.00 an hour, making it an attractive option for individuals seeking flexible hours and a work environment dedicated to enhancing children's food service experience. The position’s primary responsibility is to perform cashiering duties alongside general food service work while maintaining stringent sanitation and safety standards in food preparation, service, and dining facilities.
The Food Service Worker/Cashier will play an essential role in delivering excellent customer service to students and staff by serving food efficiently and courteously, managing the cash register, handling sales transactions, and resolving customer queries with a service-oriented approach. Additionally, the role involves food prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, as well as weighing and measuring ingredients to ensure quality standards are met.
The position requires adherence to sanitation guidelines, storage procedures, and proper food rotation to maintain safety and hygiene. Responsibilities also include replenishing condiments, beverages, and general supplies, cleaning equipment and work areas, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Candidates with prior food service experience and ServSafe certification knowledge are preferred; however, Chartwells K-12 is willing to provide training for motivated individuals.
Beyond the immediate job responsibilities, associates at Chartwells K-12 are offered a comprehensive benefits package that supports health, wellness, and financial security. This role is perfect for those interested in contributing to their local educational community while working in a structured, supportive environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Chartwells is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fair treatment of applicants and associates regardless of background or personal characteristics, emphasizing an inclusive culture where all team members can thrive.
