Job Description
Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is a vital organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others within the Marine Corps community. As a comprehensive and service-oriented program, MCCS not only aims to provide superior services but also fosters a team-oriented environment composed of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers who work collaboratively to ensure organizational effectiveness and seamless operations. This collective effort embodies MCCS's unwavering commitment to supporting the Marine Corps and its community with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
MCCS offers a broad spectrum of programs and services including recreational, retail, and child and youth activities designed to meet the diverse needs of the Marine community. Their commitment to quality and service excellence makes MCCS a unique employer that prioritizes teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement within all facets of its operation. Currently, MCCS is inviting applications for the position of Food Service Worker NA-02 located at Camp Pendleton, CA. This role is vital to ensuring the delivery of high-quality food service to Marines, their families, and authorized patrons with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and safety.
The Food Service Worker NA-02 position involves various responsibilities such as setting up food service counters, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold foods ranging from meats, vegetables, salads, desserts to beverages. The role demands cafeteria-style food service as well as family-style table service where dishes are placed and refilled accordingly. Responsibilities also include making coffee in large urns, preparing a variety of fruit and vegetable salads, serving food in prescribed portions, making simple sandwiches, and packing box lunches. The worker also plays a crucial role in maintaining dishwasher equipment by ensuring proper water and detergent levels, cleaning strainer pans, and removing calcium deposits to maintain hygiene and operational efficiency.
Moreover, this position may require physical tasks such as unloading food deliveries and moving heavy garbage cans which means the candidate must be prepared for light to moderate physical exertion including lifting objects weighing up to 45 pounds independently. This role requires adherence to strict safety regulations, proper food handling procedures, and workplace cleanliness to prevent contamination and ensure the wellbeing of all patrons. Providing world-class customer service with an emphasis on courtesy, positive communication, and problem-solving is another cornerstone of this role. The candidate needs to assist customers courteously, address concerns promptly, and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
Candidates must meet the minimum age requirement of 21 years if alcohol service is involved and must exhibit knowledge of sanitation procedures, simple arithmetic skills, and the capability to follow oral or written instructions diligently. The MCCS environment often involves working in conditions that can be warm, noisy, or involve exposure to kitchen hazards like burns or slips on wet floors. However, MCCS is committed to equal opportunity employment and providing reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities, creating a respectful and inclusive workplace.
Employment with MCCS includes benefits such as a 401(k) retirement plan (without employer match) and various other employee assistance programs aimed at ensuring a rewarding and stable career. Applications for this position must be submitted online via the MCCS Careers website, strictly following the application guidelines to be considered for employment. MCCS maintains a drug-free workplace and requires successful candidates to undergo background checks and suitability reviews, ensuring a secure and productive working environment for all its members. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals dedicated to service excellence and committed to contributing to the wellbeing of the Marine Corps community.
