The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is an essential position within the food service team, responsible for supporting the food and meal preparation process while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety. This position requires someone who can assist the manager with organizing and preparing meals, maintaining cash receipts and meal records, and contributing to daily report completion. Attention to detail and adherence to food safety regulations are critical to ensure that all food items are prepared, stored, and served in compliance with the company’s policies and industry standards.

This role demands a proactive approach to daily duties, including preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus and ensuring accurate storage of food items. The Food Service Worker is also responsible for serving food according to meal schedules and department policies and using kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Responsibilities extend to maintaining a clean and organized work environment by managing garbage collection sites, sanitizing all kitchen equipment, and assisting in thorough cleaning efforts for refrigerators, freezers, and cooking apparatus. Physical demands of this role include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing, which require stamina, flexibility, and the ability to meet safety standards. The role may also require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to uniform policies to maintain a professional appearance and safe working conditions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food service preferred
  • Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and tools
  • Basic math skills for maintaining cash receipts and meal records
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety standards
  • Physical stamina to perform lifting, bending, and extended standing
  • Willingness to comply with uniform and PPE policies

Job Qualifications

  • Food service certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Meet physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
