Job Description
Trinitas Regional Medical Center is a prominent healthcare facility located in Elizabeth, New Jersey, renowned for its commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate medical services to the community it serves. As part of the extensive RWJBarnabas Health system, Trinitas Regional Medical Center offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including specialized care, emergency services, and extensive patient support programs. The center is dedicated to delivering patient-centered care with a focus on safety, innovation, and clinical excellence, making it a trusted institution for both patients and healthcare professionals alike.
The Food Service Worker role at Trinitas Regional Medical Center plays a vital role within the Dietary-Management department, ensuring that patients receive timely, accurate, and considerate meal service in accordance with their dietary needs. This full-time, evening shift position offers a competitive hourly wage of $17.88 and demands a detail-oriented, friendly, and communicative professional who can efficiently manage meal delivery logistics while providing patient support and education on the dietary process. The Food Service Worker acts as the bridge between patients, the food and nutrition department, and the nursing staff, contributing to high standards of patient care and satisfaction.
In detail, the Food Service Worker is responsible for serving meals directly to patients, explaining the room service meal ordering system, and ensuring that patients are aware and capable of utilizing this process according to their prescribed diet plans. This includes assessing new admissions or patients with updated dietary orders, especially diabetic patients, and assisting those who may need help in selecting their meals. The role requires attentiveness to detail, such as verifying patient identity through wristband checks and confirming meal orders against diet prescriptions to prevent any dietary errors.
Additional responsibilities include meal tray collection after patients finish eating, managing food service trucks with supplies and trays, and processing diet requisitions retrieved from nursing stations. The Food Service Worker is also tasked with delivering between-meal nourishments and acts as a problem-solver to resolve any meal service concerns raised by patients. This role requires flexibility, physical endurance to move food service trucks, and the ability to work holidays and weekends as scheduled.
At RWJBarnabas Health, the employer of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, employees benefit from a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to support their physical, emotional, social, and financial well-being. The package includes paid time off, medical and prescription drug insurance, dental and vision insurance, retirement plans, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care, wellness programs, and access to voluntary benefits such as pet insurance. Employee discounts with partners like NJ Devils, NJ PAC, and Verizon further enhance the work experience.
RWJBarnabas Health, noted as New Jersey's leading academic health system, emphasizes high-quality academic medicine delivered with equity and compassion. The organization advances innovative strategies in patient care, education, and research, targeting both clinical and social determinants of health. Working at Trinitas Regional Medical Center within this network means joining a team devoted to sustaining healthier communities through dedicated service and continuous improvement, offering an enriching and impactful career path in healthcare support roles.
