The current job opening is for part-time Food Service Worker positions located at Stryker Medical South Cafe, 3800 Center Avenue, Portage, MI 49002. This role offers flexible scheduling with Saturday and Sunday shifts available during both day and evening hours, each shift running approximately five hours. The pay range for this position is competitive, offering between $17.00 and $18.00 per hour. The position primarily involves food preparation, presentation, and service duties, with an emphasis on maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Candidates with previous food service experience are preferred, but the company also provides opportunities for new employees to learn and grow within the role. The Food Service Worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks including preparing ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients, transporting food safely between work stations, stoves, and refrigerators, and storing food properly following strict wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures. They will also be required to keep work areas, equipment, and utensils clean, distribute supplies as needed, and utilize approved recipes and production standards to ensure quality, portion control, and proper serving temperatures. Serving customers efficiently and courteously is a key part of the role, as is resolving customer concerns and communicating important information to supervisors. Compliance with company protocols related to service standards, inventory control, cash handling, as well as sanitation and safety requirements, is essential. Other duties may be assigned as needed, reflecting the dynamic environment and evolving needs of the site.

Job Duties

  • carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
  • stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
  • cleans work areas, equipment and utensils
  • distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment
  • utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
  • resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor
  • ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
  • assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • performs other duties as assigned
