Job Requirements
- Experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility
- Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment
- Ability to complete and maintain food safety training required by University Housing and Dining
Job Qualifications
- Experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility
- Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment
- Ability to complete and maintain food safety training required by University Housing and Dining
- One year or more experience working and preparing food using commercial kitchen equipment
- One year or more experience as a cashier in a food service operation utilizing point-of-sale systems
- Customer service experience in a high-volume food service operation
- Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Job Duties
- Serve high-quality food products including short-order and made-to-order cooking and customized drinks using commercial kitchen equipment
- Read, follow, and execute recipes based on culinary standards
- Set up, stock, clean, and replenish the serving area before and during service
- Maintain menu and product knowledge and ensure customer satisfaction with food and drink quality
- Break down and clean all serving areas, workstations, and equipment after service
- Restock shelves, beverage stations, and convenience store merchandise as needed
- Ensure completion of cleaning tasks throughout the shift
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers and maintaining a professional and enthusiastic demeanor
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) system accurately processing meal plan, cash, and credit transactions
- Maintain and replenish service supplies such as condiments and napkins
- Assist in cleaning and sanitation of dining rooms, kitchens, dish areas, and bathrooms including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning surfaces
- Report emergencies and equipment issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines including proper food storage, temperature maintenance, and avoiding cross-contamination
- Follow work safety guidelines including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicate professionally and effectively with team members and supervisors
- Provide support throughout dining units as needed
- Assist with training and guidance for new and existing staff including student workers
- Adhere to university policies regarding time and attendance, training, and compliance
- Complete and maintain required food safety training, including Texas Food Handler Safety
- Follow cash handling and reporting procedures including transfer of funds reports, closing reports, and cash reconciliation sheets
- Perform other duties as assigned.
