Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years healthcare or hospitality food service experience
- Obtain Allergen Awareness Certification from VA State - ANSI-approved program within 180 days
- Obtain Food Protection Manager Certification from VA State - ANSI-approved program within 180 days
- Ability to lead and engage a diverse team
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to use food and nutrition software, electronic health systems, and workforce management tools
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of healthcare or hospitality food service experience
- Allergen Awareness Certification from VA State - ANSI-approved within 180 days
- Food Protection Manager Certification from VA State - ANSI-approved within 180 days
- Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Manager (CDM CFPP) preferred
Job Duties
- Ensure efficiency in kitchen and retail operations by holding team accountable for workflow processes, scheduled hours, assignments and documentation of food safety and sanitation protocols
- Work with team to prioritize workload and consistently prepare, assemble, and serve food timely
- Remain knowledgeable on patient/resident census and anticipated retail volume
- Coordinate increases or decreases in production and preparation volumes with culinary team and management
- Maintain accurate accounting functions such as daily and monthly reports, cashier operations including settling cash drawers and depositing bank monies where applicable
- Support departmental productivity by recommending creative changes
- Demonstrate positive customer service behaviors and strive to meet/exceed customer needs
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and food safety regulations and departmental policies
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment and address noncompliance
- Demonstrate leadership through developing and educating staff on policies and best practices
- Engage in onboarding initiatives to reduce turnover
- Assist in maintaining food cost and inventory accuracy
- Monitor and report food and supply usage to assist billing
- Utilize technology for increased efficiency including food and nutrition software, patient electronic health systems, work order systems, and workforce management tools
- Assist department leadership in overseeing diet office procedures and team workflow
- Provide teamwork support by assisting co-workers and covering staff relief when necessary
