The role of Food Service Specialist at IDEA Public Schools is essential in supporting the nutritional needs of students. This position involves preparing, portioning, and serving food appropriately to students during meal times, with attention to quality and safety standards. Named the Food Service Specialist, this role requires competencies in food preparation including cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables, following precise recipes, and maintaining established kitchen processes and sanitation guidelines. The specialist also monitors student behavior during meal periods to encourage healthy eating habits, such as consuming more fresh fruits and vegetables and enforcing rules like no sharing of food among students.

Beyond food preparation and service, the Food Service Specialist is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area. Duties like sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, and disposing of trash are vital to ensure a hygienic and orderly environment. The position also offers eligibility for a performance bonus based on team achievements and goal attainment.
