As a Food Service Specialist at IDEA Public Schools, you will play a critical role in supporting the health and nutrition of students by ensuring that food is prepared, portioned, and served in appropriate quantities. This role involves a variety of tasks such as cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables, following recipes with precision, and maintaining strict adherence to kitchen safety and sanitation standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring students during meal periods to encourage healthy eating habits, oversee appropriate behavior, and ensure no food sharing occurs among students, upholding best practices in cafeteria management.

The position also encompasses essential kitchen maintenance duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, and properly disposing of trash. The Food Service Specialist works collaboratively as part of a team, adapting to the dynamic needs of the school environment. This role demands a keen attention to detail, physical stamina to handle tasks such as moving cafeteria tables and garbage disposal, and the ability to operate a range of kitchen equipment effectively. This position offers compensation ranging from $13.00 to $14.95 per hour depending on experience, with eligibility for a performance bonus based on team achievements and goal attainment.
