The company prides itself on offering an extensive portfolio of products, programs, and innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the convenience retail environment. As a consistent industry leader, Core-Mark fosters a culture centered on inclusion, rewards, recognition, and respect, ensuring a safe and welcoming workplace for all employees. The organization supports career growth with competitive pay, comprehensive benefits starting from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and numerous other perks.
The Food Service Sales Manager position at Core-Mark is a critical role designed to enhance the company’s foodservice initiatives within the convenience retail channel. This role is primarily focused on developing, promoting, and educating customers and vendors about Core-Mark’s foodservice offerings. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in supporting local sales teams by increasing foodservice market penetration through educational efforts, product knowledge enhancement, and collaborative strategies tailored to individual client needs. This position requires the Food Service Sales Manager to serve as an ambassador of foodservice and private brand sales and marketing efforts, fostering strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
The role offers a base salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, complemented by a potential bonus of 20 percent. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to accommodate business needs. This position involves approximately 75 percent travel to cover key territories including Albany, NY; Boston, MA; Providence, RI; and Hartford, CT; and requires availability to travel between these locations regularly. The company provides benefits such as a car allowance, mileage reimbursement through the Car Data Program, and a monthly cell phone stipend to support the mobile nature of this role.
The Food Service Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in facilitating the implementation of both new and existing food programs. Responsibilities include conducting training and demonstrations, assisting in menu and recipe development, managing documentation and equipment needs, and overseeing inventory control. The candidate will provide in-field training and consultative support to strategic accounts on foodservice growth strategies, including product information, preparation methods, merchandising, marketing, pricing, and profitability. Keeping abreast of current foodservice trends, safety standards, and equipment usage is essential to maintaining the company’s competitive edge.
This position entails regular coordination with the Purchasing Department to align inventory management with weekly and monthly demand forecasts for key program components. The Food Service Sales Manager will conduct weekly field visits alongside suppliers and sales teams to identify growth opportunities and present Core-Mark’s foodservice programs to customers. Participation in regional and national trade shows is expected, as well as organizing and managing food and beverage demonstrations both on-site and off-site. The role requires strong presentation and communication skills to effectively lead brand discussions, contribute to sales meetings, and support Core-Mark’s growth objectives. Collaboration with the Corporate Foodservice Strategy and Growth team will help optimize the proprietary brand portfolio and provide real-time feedback to refine marketing initiatives and operational execution.
Successful candidates will exhibit a strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and equipment use, along with an organized, detail-oriented approach to managing a schedule heavily weighted towards field visits and program support. The ability to analyze situations critically and propose solutions, mastery of computer programs and technology relevant to the role, and foundational knowledge of food safety standards such as HACCP and Serv-Safe certification are essential. The role also demands a capability to interpret foodservice sales reports and present strategic insights to sales leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated foodservice professional with a passion for growth and innovation within a supportive and dynamic company environment.
