Job Description

Melrose Healthcare, operating under the umbrella of Next Step Healthcare, is a leading provider in the skilled nursing and healthcare services industry. Our facilities are designed to deliver personalized healthcare that exceeds patient expectations, whether individuals are undergoing short-term rehabilitation after a hospital stay or receiving long-term care for chronic and complex conditions. We are committed to creating a supportive, safe, and welcoming environment for both our patients and staff, promoting wellness and recovery through comprehensive care services. Our skilled nursing homes integrate multidisciplinary approaches to healthcare, ensuring residents receive tailored treatment plans that address their unique needs while maintaining a high standard of comfort and dignity.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Director to join our team on a full-time basis. This crucial leadership role involves overseeing the entire Nursing Home Food Service department, ensuring that all residents receive safe, nutritious, and cost-effective meals and snacks. The Food Service Director at Melrose Healthcare will be responsible for managing meal scheduling, menu planning, kitchen operations, inventory control, budgeting, supplies management, and staff supervision. This position demands an individual with excellent leadership abilities and effective communication skills who can coordinate interdisciplinary efforts to maintain a harmonious workplace and consistently deliver high-quality food service that complies with all federal and state regulations.

The Food Service Director also plays a vital role in infection control, customer service, grievance handling, and maintaining accuracy related to meals and dietary needs. Reporting to administration, the Director will engage in daily inspections of the dietary department to confirm safety and sanitation standards, oversee storage conditions, conduct dining room rounds, and ensure that all procedures align with established policies. Additionally, the role covers human resources functions such as hiring, orienting, training, counseling, disciplining, and managing the performance of dietary employees, as well as scheduling and overtime management. Participation in department head meetings, monthly quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) meetings, and the Manager on Duty program further underscores the integral role this position holds within the organizational structure.

Beyond the operational responsibilities, the Food Service Director will be tasked with menu creation that balances nutritional, therapeutic, and resident preference considerations while strictly adhering to public health regulations. This includes procuring food from approved vendors and managing expenditures to meet budget requirements. Melrose Healthcare values a dynamic and proactive leadership style, expecting the Food Service Director to foster a safe workplace while promoting excellent customer service and upholding policy compliance. This role is ideal for professionals who bring strong experience from healthcare food service environments, particularly those with a background in nursing home or long-term care settings, and certified dietary management credentials. At Melrose Healthcare, we emphasize a culture of respect, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, offering competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package to support our team members' well-being and professional growth.
