In this role, the director oversees meal preparation, ensuring adherence to ingredient specifications, food safety standards, and recipes. They also handle inventory management, including ordering supplies and equipment, monitoring stock quality, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety following FDA, ServSafe, and HACCP requirements. The director is responsible for hiring, training, and managing the performance of kitchen staff, fostering a motivated and efficient team environment. Budget management and collaboration with district managers and other departments are integral parts of the job, aiming to meet forecasted financial targets while maintaining high food quality.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a chef
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
- ServSafe certification or equivalent
- Must pass a level 1 background check annually
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to work in freezer, cooler, and hot environments
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50lbs
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions
- Strong time management and multitasking skills
Job Qualifications
- ServSafe certified or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience as a chef
- At least 1 year experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Knowledge of food preparation and health safety standards
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Effective communication with staff, vendors, and volunteers
- Problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with HACCP and ServSafe principles

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to the specified menu
- Complete meal preparation and cooking on schedule
- Read and follow recipes accurately, convert and scale using software
- Manage inventory ordering, stock rotation, and quality monitoring
- Monitor and log equipment and food temperatures to FDA standards
- Operate kitchen utensils and equipment for food prep and storage
- Manage the food service department functions and lead staff hiring and training
- Budget for the department, purchasing ingredients and meeting financial targets
- Ensure compliance with sanitation, health, and safety standards
- Inspect and sanitize workstations
