Job Description

Red Rabbit is a Black-owned School Food Management Company that has been transforming school dining since its founding in 2005. As an MWBE-certified K-12 school food management company, Red Rabbit is dedicated to serving diverse, high-quality meals to children within urban communities across the Greater New York region, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. The company’s mission emphasizes that food serves not just to nourish but also to uphold dignity, cultural representation, and opportunity for students. Their professionally trained chefs operate in both commissary kitchens and onsite cafeterias, preparing scratch-made, culturally relevant meals that honor the heritage and lived experiences of the students they serve. Red Rabbit’s approach extends beyond simply delivering meals—they become an active and meaningful part of the school community.

The role of Food Service Coordinator, In-School, is a full-time position that reports directly to the Head Chef and functions as a vital part of a small dynamic team typically consisting of five to eight members. The primary responsibility is to coordinate efficient meal preparation and service within schools, ensuring that meals are delivered on time and with respect to the students’ dignity. The coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining operations that consistently meet the needs of schools, supporting the kitchen teams, and fostering positive interactions with school personnel and students alike. This position combines kitchen expediting skills with administrative tasks, requiring the candidate to navigate logistical challenges and customer engagement fluidly.

An ideal candidate will bring 3-5 years of experience in operational or administrative roles supporting cross-functional teams, accompanied by at least one year of customer-facing experience. Experience working with schools or food service environments is considered highly beneficial. Key competencies include the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, exceptional communication skills both written and verbal, and a keen attention to detail. The Food Service Coordinator must also embody a passion for improving school nutrition through the lens of social justice and equity. Bilingual abilities in Spanish and English are a strong plus, enhancing communication within diverse school communities.

This position offers a typical Monday through Friday schedule with details to be determined and includes a competitive benefits package. Benefits include generous paid time off with most major holidays off, health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k options, paid professional development, education reimbursement opportunities, paid family leave, and disability insurance coverage. Red Rabbit is committed to providing a supportive, mission-driven work environment where employees can contribute meaningfully to community health and student well-being. The company is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring fair employment practices free of discrimination based on age, race, creed, color, national origin, marital status, or sexual orientation.
