The role of Food Service Cook IIA at Bethune Elementary is pivotal in supporting the School District's mission by preparing and serving reimbursable meals that meet nutritional guidelines. This is a full-time position with a work schedule based on a 192A Day Calendar and includes six-hour shifts each day. Beyond food preparation, the role supports positive interactions with students, faculty, and visitors, promoting excellent customer service and communication.

Job Requirements
- Prior food service or cashier work experience
- Ability to follow directions, read, and communicate in English
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, teachers, school administrators, and Food & Nutrition service-related personnel
- Computer skills as required for the position

- A standard high school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Florida driver’s license preferred

Job Duties
- Follow daily work schedules for food production, service, and cleaning
- Participate in on-going state-approved training and educational initiatives
- Demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service using good judgment and professionalism
- Operate point of sale according to federal guidelines when assigned
- Adhere to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and HACCP standards
- Perform kitchen duties including pre-preparation, food production, service, clean-up, and order check-in
- Assist with ordering, proper storage, and inventories for supplies and food items
- Follow written recipes and instructions for food preparation and record time, amounts used, and temperature on production worksheets
- Operate food service equipment safely
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure sanitation practices
- Drive vans and refrigerated/freezer trucks to satellite sites for food delivery
- Ensure compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies
- Participate in training programs to enhance job skills
- Review current developments related to food services
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures
- Follow federal, state laws, and School Board policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
