The role of Food Service Café Associate at Heinen's is a vital position that plays a key role in creating an exceptional in-store café experience for customers. The associate is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food items that adhere to company standards while providing friendly and prompt customer service. This role requires working efficiently in a fast-paced environment, paying close attention to detail, and maintaining strict adherence to food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude, which are essential for success in this position. This position operates Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a work schedule of 28 hours per week, offering flexible hours that can accommodate various lifestyles. The Food Service Café Associate will engage in multiple duties ranging from food preparation and handling to customer service and operational support. Duties include preparing menu items such as pizzas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, hot subs, donuts, fried foods, and other café offerings following established recipes and safety standards. The associate is also tasked with maintaining a clean and inviting café environment, responding to customer inquiries, accurately fulfilling orders, and collaborating with team members to meet business needs. This role requires physical stamina as it involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in varying temperature conditions. Candidates with at least two years of café, kitchen, or short-order line cook experience and scratch culinary experience are preferred, along with a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication skills, knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, and a production-driven mindset are essential attributes for the Food Service Café Associate.
