The role of Food Service Associate / Deli Clerk at Global Partners is an essential position focused on daily operations of the store's deli and food service departments. This role requires dedication to maintaining high cleanliness standards, excellent customer service, and proper store appearance. The Food Service Associate is responsible for processing transactions, managing deli ingredients, preparing and cooking food items, and ensuring that all products meet quality and safety standards. Tasks include handling cash registers, using various scales and scanners, preparing deli foods like sandwiches, salads, and hot or cold items, working safely with sharp equipment and hot appliances, and adhering to merchandising guidelines. The role also involves collaboration with store management and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

To be successful in this position, candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 16 years old, and possess at least two years of food service or retail management experience. Reliability, flexibility, physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and skill in operating deli equipment are also important. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Two years food service or retail management experience
  • Reliable transportation and an active driver's license
  • Flexibility to work weekend holiday and evening shifts and assist other locations as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Work in walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Stand for long periods bend and twist below waist and frequently lift or maneuver merchandise and supplies
  • Dexterity with hands and fingers to use knives slicers burners ovens fryers and rotisseries
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Vocational or technical education is a plus

Job Duties

  • Process cash register transactions giving back change and refunds
  • Learn to use register scales scanners and debit/credit terminals
  • Learn to use UPC codes store signage and memorize various register keys and codes
  • Read UPC codes product labels shelf signage register forms and posted company policies/procedures
  • Learn and work with deli ingredients including various meat items vegetables fruits spices nuts flavorings sauces and oils
  • Use scale printer machines ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • Monitor product pricing signage and placement as well as use product shelf tags and signage
  • Keep a clean neat and orderly check stand sales counter and work production areas
  • Prepare wrap box weigh slice and stock deli/food service products rotating them to ensure product quality and safety
  • Prepare and cook deli and food service items including fried foods salads sandwiches roller grill items hot and cold beverages prepared meals and snack items
  • Work safely around sharp slicers tools and hot ovens and burners
  • Display products following deli department and merchandising guidelines
  • Take guest orders ensuring orders are completed on time and to guest satisfaction
  • Other duties assigned by Store Manager
