Job Description

IKEA is a globally renowned company known for its commitment to creating a better everyday life for many people by providing well-designed, functional, and affordable home furnishings. Founded in Sweden, IKEA has grown into a multinational enterprise with a strong focus on simplicity, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. The company operates in multiple countries, offering customers a wide range of products and services that enhance their homes and lifestyles. As part of its core values, IKEA believes in fostering a positive work environment where co-workers are valued and supported, helping to maintain a thriving culture of respect and inclusivity.

Within this well-established retail environment, the Food Service Team Member plays a vital role in ensuring the operational excellence of IKEA Food. IKEA Food is more than just a cafeteria; it is a significant extension of the IKEA brand, offering guests honest, healthy, and delicious food options that complement their shopping experience. The Food Service Team Member is responsible for preparing and maintaining food items according to the IKEA Food concept, adhering to strict food handling, health, and sustainability standards. This role involves direct interaction with customers, responding to inquiries to support informed purchases, managing sales transactions with accuracy, and ensuring compliance with cash handling policies.

The position is permanent and part-time, with shifts requiring open availability, including nights and weekends, typically ranging from 12 to 19 hours per week. The hourly pay ranges from $19.91 to $28.12, dependent on the candidate's relevant experience. The responsibilities also extend to maintaining kitchen equipment, implementing preventive and cleaning maintenance, and ensuring that all supply areas—dishes, utensils, trays—meet food safety standards. Besides the food preparation and service aspects, the team member will oversee the Swedish Food Market, ensuring correct merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and cleanliness.

An essential aspect of this role is maintaining the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas, providing a welcoming environment for all customers. The Food Service Team Member ensures timely and accurate price communication across all platforms, including digital menus, boards, and shelf labels, maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the IKEA Food operation. Employees in this role are committed to IKEA's food policies and workplace safety regulations, reporting any concerns promptly to management.

The role requires adaptability, as team members work closely with a diverse group of co-workers and customers. IKEA embraces diversity and inclusion as core components of its organizational culture. Working at IKEA Food is not only about food service but about contributing to a larger mission—helping millions of customers globally create a better everyday life through a unique combination of products, services, and experiences. This role offers an inclusive, fun, and supportive work environment where employees are empowered to succeed and grow.

IKEA co-workers enjoy a comprehensive benefits package designed to support their well-being and future planning. These benefits include generous paid time off, holiday, and sick time, early access to earned wages, paid parental leave up to 16 weeks, tuition discounts for childcare, retirement and bonus plans, employee discounts, and education assistance programs. Additional perks include pet insurance, safety shoe reimbursements, 24/7 telehealth services, and medical, dental, and vision plans for those working a minimum of 20 hours per week. The Food Service Team Member has the unique opportunity to become part of a global team that values diversity, quality, and continuous improvement, making a meaningful impact day-to-day in the lives of customers and colleagues alike.
