The hiring company is a manufacturing facility specializing in food or related products where maintaining the highest standards of sanitation is crucial to ensure product safety and quality. The role available is for a Sanitation Technician, who will be instrumental in supporting the facility’s sanitation efforts. This position is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented, physically capable, and knowledgeable about sanitation techniques within a production environment. The Sanitation Technician will be responsible for executing routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks on machinery and facility spaces to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations. Working closely with the Quality Control (QC) Department to maintain the facility's sanitation standards, the technician plays a critical role in supporting product integrity and safety.

Working hours for this position follow a graveyard shift from 6:00 PM to 6:25 AM, operating in 12-hour shifts with a biweekly alternative work schedule that includes weekends. This schedule demands flexibility and a strong commitment to safety and professionalism during night shifts. The role also requires mandatory participation in overtime work, reflecting the company's dedication to maintaining continuous sanitation standards. Employees in this position need to be comfortable working in various temperature ranges and weather conditions, as the tasks sometimes take place outside or in challenging environments such as confined spaces and dusty locations.

The Sanitation Technician will be expected to thoroughly understand and implement all relevant SOPs, GMPs, and HACCP principles. Using color-coded cleaning tools to minimize cross-contamination, managing chemical sanitation agents, maintaining cleaning schedules, and accurately documenting sanitation activities are essential components of the role. This comprehensive approach helps reduce safety risks and ensures consistent sanitation quality throughout production cycles.

Candidates for this role should possess physical endurance and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, squatting, pulling, pushing, and scrubbing both vertically and horizontally. Moreover, precision in reading and interpreting chemical labels, safety data sheets (MSDS), SOPs, and sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) is necessary to execute cleaning processes safely and efficiently. The ability to complete detailed sanitation logs and verification of test strips accurately promotes accountability and transparency in the sanitation activities.

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to work in wet, cold, hot, dusty areas and at heights
  • Must have ability to accept temporary assignment changes to assist other areas of the plant, maintaining a positive, professional attitude
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of product routinely
  • Must be able to lift, bend, squat, pull, push, and scrub vertically and horizontally
  • Must be able to understand and execute mixing ration instructions
  • Must be able to read and understand chemical labels, MSDS sheets, SOP's and SSOP's
  • Must be able to correctly and clearly fill out master sanitation, verification of test strips and any and all logs
  • Must work in a safe, professional manner at all times
  • Must report any accidents, property damage, or near misses to a supervisor immediately
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening including drug screen, background check, and physical
  • Experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensure minimal risk of cross contamination by properly utilizing color coded equipment in the appropriate colored zones
  • Maintain cleanliness of facilities by foaming, sanitizing, scrubbing, and scraping using various chemicals and tools
  • Complete the master sanitation schedule of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, and any other logs
  • Sort chemicals, mix, and fill up sanitizer tanks
  • Understand and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMP's, and HACCP
  • Working overtime is mandatory and requires full participation
  • Report all safety violations and hazards to the supervisor immediately and participate in all safety programs and procedures
  • Must always wear required PPE
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the supervisor to be accepted with a positive and professional attitude
