The Food Safety Specialist role at Rentokil is vital in supporting clients within the hotel, restaurant, and grocery sectors to uphold their brand standards while ensuring exceptional food quality and customer service. This position revolves around conducting thorough assessments to measure compliance with regulatory, industry, and proprietary brand standards concerning food safety, health, and sanitation. The specialist works collaboratively with clients to identify the root causes of any problems found during assessments and to develop corrective action plans aimed at fostering safer workplaces and healthier environments for both employees and their customers. The role demands a flexible work schedule that includes considerable travel, about 50-70% of the time (8-10 days per month), when specialists visit clients’ sites, often requiring evening or weekend hours. The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for conducting audits and inspections, monitoring food safety implementation, training and educating staff, investigating incidents, ensuring regulation compliance, and maintaining detailed documentation and records. Key skills include the ability to deliver feedback constructively, work autonomously, organize and prioritize tasks effectively, and demonstrate strong technical knowledge of food safety preferably supported by certifications such as ServSafe or CP-FS. Job Requirements

  • Meet requirements to obtain CP-FS certification
  • Available to work Monday to Friday, Saturdays, and evenings as needed
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Hold licenses and certificates required by federal, state, and local regulations as covered by the company
  • Strong knowledge of food safety preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently

Job Qualifications

  • CP-FS certification or eligibility
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence
  • Strong knowledge of food safety preferred
  • ServSafe or CP-FS certifications a plus
  • Excellent listening, organizational, communication, and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Conduct assessments measuring conformity to regulatory and brand standards
  • Observe food preparation and cooking to ensure safety and sanitation
  • Partner with clients to address assessment discrepancies and develop corrective plans
  • Teach and coach clients to improve workplace safety and health
  • Travel 50-70% including evenings and weekends
  • Conduct audits and inspections
  • Train and educate client staff
