Job Description

Rentokil North America, Inc. is a proud member of the Rentokil family of companies, a global leader in pest control and related services operating across more than 90 countries. Renowned for its dedication to protecting people, enhancing lives, and preserving the planet, Rentokil serves a diverse clientele including some of the world's leading brands in various industries. With a legacy of excellence, the company continuously innovates and strives to deliver superior service, making it a trusted partner for businesses and consumers alike. As an established leader in the pest control industry, Rentokil North America emphasizes safety, quality, and environmental responsibility in all its operations, contributing to healthier communities and safer workplaces.

This position is for a Food Safety Specialist who will play an essential role in supporting clients in the hotel, restaurant, and grocery sectors. The primary objective of the Food Safety Specialist is to uphold and enhance the brand standards of these clients by ensuring exceptional food quality and fostering a customer-focused environment. This role involves conducting detailed assessments to measure compliance with established regulatory, industry, and proprietary standards, thereby helping clients deliver outstanding service and products to their guests. The specialist acts as both an inspector and an educator, observing food preparation and cooking practices to verify food safety and sanitation, while also coaching clients on best practices for maintaining safer and healthier workplaces.

Working as a Food Safety Specialist requires strong technical knowledge of food safety, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to work autonomously. The role demands significant travel—typically between 50 and 70 percent of the time—often including evenings and weekends, to visit various client locations. Key responsibilities include conducting audits and inspections, implementing and monitoring food safety protocols, training staff, investigating food safety incidents, and ensuring strict compliance with all relevant regulations. The specialist also maintains meticulous documentation and provides clear, constructive feedback.

Candidates must meet specific certification standards, preferably holding CP-FS and/or ServSafe certification. They must also have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, along with a valid driver's license and the ability to work flexible schedules. The position offers an hourly wage range of $18.00 to $25.00, influenced by geographic location, skills, education, and experience. Additional earning potential exists through overtime, incentives, commissions, and performance-based opportunities.

Rentokil North America fosters a rewarding career path filled with opportunities for growth, offering competitive pay and numerous benefits from day one for full-time employees. Their comprehensive Total Rewards Program supports both professional and personal development, including training, tuition reimbursement, health benefits, retirement plans with company matching, and work-life balance initiatives such as paid time off and holidays. This welcoming environment prioritizes employee health, safety, and flexibility, encouraging candidates who want to make a difference in the places where customers live and work to join the team.
