Job Description
Sage Hospitality is a renowned hospitality company committed to enriching lives one experience at a time. They envision redefining how the world experiences hospitality by blending innovation, authenticity, and excellence in every aspect of their operations. With a strong foothold in the hospitality industry, Sage Hospitality oversees several distinguished properties known for their unique character and exceptional service standards. One of their celebrated establishments is The Nines in Portland, a historic retail palace transformed into a vibrant luxury hotel. This iconic building, originally constructed in 1909 as the Meier & Frank building, has been adaptively reused to celebrate Portland's rich architectural heritage. The Nines features a dual culinary destination with the acclaimed Urban Farmer steakhouse focusing on farm-to-table principles and Departure, a rooftop pan-Asian restaurant, both of which highlight Sage Hospitality's commitment to quality and local sourcing. Sustainability at The Nines is a lived philosophy, exemplified by initiatives like onsite honeybees, hydroponic gardens, and in-house butchers, reinforcing the hotel’s dedication to environmentally responsible practices. Moreover, the hotel showcases over 400 locally curated art pieces, infusing the luxury experience with Portland’s creative spirit and independent character.
The role of Food Runner at The Nines involves playing an essential part in the restaurant’s operations by ensuring the timely delivery of food items with impeccable presentation and quality. This position requires a keen understanding of the restaurant’s seating, menu, and service protocols to enhance guest satisfaction. Food Runners must be proficient in managing operational details such as table and station numbers, room capacities, and dress codes while maintaining adherence to all departmental policies and health regulations. The role also involves knowledge of liquor, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic selections along with their proper handling and service requirements. The Food Runner collaborates closely with other team members to uphold high standards in food presentation, serving temperature, portion sizes, and garnish, guaranteeing an elevated dining experience. This position’s physical demands include the ability to lift, carry, and balance serving trays and equipment, strong communication skills, and maintaining stamina during continuous periods of standing and moving throughout their shifts. Sage Hospitality offers a supportive environment fostering professional growth along with benefits like a 401(k) plan with employer matching, an employee assistance program, and attractive discounts across hotel and restaurant operations. The company seeks energetic, driven, and passionate individuals who are committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences and making a meaningful impact through their roles.
