The role of the Food Runner is a critical position within our team, designed to support the seamless flow of service during each shift. The Food Runner assists servers by delivering food to the correct tables promptly and ensures that every dish meets the restaurant's standards for accuracy, presentation, and temperature before it reaches the guest. This position demands excellent communication with kitchen staff to guarantee that food orders are executed correctly and swiftly. The Food Runner also pre-buses tables by clearing dirty dishes and utensils, helping maintain a clean and inviting environment. In addition to these responsibilities, the Food Runner must be knowledgeable about the restaurant layout to deliver orders efficiently and be prepared to answer guest inquiries about menu items confidently.

This role requires standing and moving around the restaurant for the entirety of the scheduled shift, demonstrating stamina and the ability to manage multiple tasks under time constraints. Handling warm plates carefully and lifting items up to 20 lbs are essential components of the job. With a strong emphasis on verbal communication and speed, the Food Runner contributes significantly to enhancing overall guest satisfaction by ensuring food is served fresh and quickly. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in food service or hospitality field
  • Ability to stand for the entirety of scheduled shift
  • Ability to walk and move around the restaurant for the majority of the shift
  • Be able to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Be able to hold warm plates to deliver food promptly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in food service or hospitality field
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of menu items
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in high volume restaurant settings is a plus

Job Duties

  • Check food for accuracy, presentation and temperature prior to removing it from the window
  • Communicate with all parts of the kitchen so food ticket is executed correctly
  • Deliver food to tables promptly
  • Answer questions about the food if guest asks
  • Pre-bus soiled plates from guest tables
  • Tidy work stations and expo area
  • Understand restaurant layout in order for food to be delivered correctly
