The role of Food Runner at Aramark is dynamic and essential within the kitchen environment. Reporting closely to the kitchen manager, the Food Runner plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operations by assisting in food and meal preparation, managing cash receipts, and maintaining accurate meal records. This position requires a dedicated individual committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation, preparing daily reports, and supporting the coordination and execution of the daily menu. From preparing and serving high-quality meals and baked goods, to properly storing food and handling cooking equipment with care, the Food Runner ensures timely delivery of meals that meet quality and presentation standards.

Additional responsibilities include handling garnishing to enhance dish appeal, cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment such as refrigerators and freezers, and upholding stringent sanitation practices in all workspaces. This role demands physical stamina, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods, along with adherence to uniform policies and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary. The Food Runner must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, efficiently and accurately completing tasks focused on customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality meals and baked goods in accordance with the menu
  • document and verify daily transactions and meal prep activities
  • ensure all components of a meal are properly accounted for and prepared
  • ensure proper and hygienic storage of food to prevent spoilage and contamination
  • serve food to customers in accordance with the designated meal times and operational procedures
  • properly handle and maintain cooking tools, including sharp utensils
  • ensure all food and beverages are prepared and ready promptly for service
  • use garnishes to enhance dish presentation
  • assist with cleaning and maintaining refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment
  • adhere to food safety protocols and maintain cleanliness
  • follow uniform policy and wear required personal protective equipment
  • work with manager to ensure menu accuracy and coordination
  • ensure food is stored and served at correct temperatures
  • keep work and storage areas clean and organized
  • maintain hygiene in all workspaces
  • perform sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing duties
  • dispose of garbage properly and keep kitchen floors sanitized
  • assist with additional tasks as assigned
