The role of Food Quality Assurance Supervisor is a vital position within SkyChefs’ Customer Service Center (CSC) located onsite in Des Plaines, USA. The salary range for this position is $59,796.82 to $74,746.03, reflecting the importance of ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality within the company’s operational environment. This role entails overseeing critical food safety and quality management systems, such as the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Plan, Prerequisite Food Safety Programs, and Preventive Control Programs, in adherence to FDA, USDA, and customer-specific regulations. The Food Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, verifying, and training staff in these food safety protocols to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and verifying food safety monitoring records, ensuring audit readiness, supporting food safety investigations, conducting routine tests related to quality control, and fostering strong working relationships with internal stakeholders. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, food microbiology, chemistry, biology, engineering or related fields preferred
- One to three years of related work experience required in the food safety area
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
- Knowledge of GMP, FDA, USDA and HACCP regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and lead others
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
- Knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, food microbiology, chemistry, biology, engineering or related fields preferred
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
- Working knowledge in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards highly preferred
- Proven analytical and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results and achieve budget
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA, USDA and HACCP regulations
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills combined with an aptitude for multi-tasking

- Knowledge of computer skills including technology (scanners, tablets, printers, copiers) and Microsoft Office programs, as well as cloud-based systems
Job Duties
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, customer specifications and other regulatory and corporate food safety standards
- Monitor and verify the effectiveness of food safety programs and recordkeeping
- Oversee food safety CCPs, oPRPs, and PRPs, and conduct routine tests as defined by food safety and quality program
- Provide food safety training and ensure its effectiveness
- Maintain and verify food safety monitoring records
- Support inspection/audit readiness and manage external food safety, quality, and sanitation inspections/audits
- Assist department leadership in food safety investigations and report findings
