Job Description
OurCommunity is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to serving formerly homeless individuals, especially those who are aging or facing complex needs, by providing long-term care and support within a stable and loving community environment. Inspired by the mission of OurCalling, OurCommunity operates with an innovative and Gospel-centered heart, aiming not only to meet the physical needs of its residents but also to foster spiritual growth, healing, and restoration. This ministry is deeply rooted in faith and driven by a mission to help neighbors walk with Jesus and integrate into healthy, sustainable community life. OurCommunity’s culture is built on the pillars of hospitality, relationship, accountability, and genuine care, emphasizing patience, compassion, and presence as foundational elements necessary for meaningful transformation. The organization embraces a pioneering spirit to create a space where trauma is met with compassion, isolation is replaced with connection, and every home contributes to renewed purpose and dignity for its residents.
The Food Manager (FM) at OurCommunity holds a critical leadership role reporting directly to the Executive Director. This full-time, exempt position is charged with managing all aspects of the ministry's food services, including sourcing, preparation, storage, and distribution of meals to residents. Initially, the FM will establish core kitchen systems within a temporary facility before expanding operations to a full commercial kitchen. The role demands a food-focused and people-centric individual who can thoughtfully prepare high-quality meals using donated and purchased ingredients while fostering meaningful relationships. The FM is responsible for overseeing kitchen staff and volunteers, managing inventory and logistics, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining a sanitary and organized kitchen environment. Collaboration with the Volunteer Site Coordinator and other ministry staff is essential for seamless meal service and strong volunteer engagement.
This position is not solely about food preparation; it integrates faith, leadership, and community care. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of how food intersects with faith and community healing. The Food Manager will thrive in a dynamic, startup-like environment that is fast-paced and fluid, requiring adaptability, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to a transformative mission by ensuring that meals served to vulnerable neighbors are not only nourishing but also moments of connection and care. The pay range for this position is $45,000 to $50,000 annually, and it comes with a comprehensive benefits package reflecting the organization’s commitment to supporting its staff.
