Job Description

Target Corporation is a leading American retail company known for its broad range of products, including apparel, electronics, home goods, groceries, and more. Founded over a century ago, Target has established itself as a trusted brand with a commitment to affordability, style, and convenience. Operating thousands of stores across the United States, Target focuses on creating a positive shopping experience for its guests through exceptional customer service, innovative store designs, and a well-curated product assortment. The company’s culture emphasizes inclusivity, community engagement, and sustainable practices, making it a respected employer and retail leader.

Within Target stores, the Food & Beverage team plays a crucial role in maintaining an outstanding shopping environment where guests can find fresh, high-quality food products. This team oversees all aspects of food operations to ensure product freshness, safety, proper inventory, and appealing presentation on the sales floor. The Food & Beverage Team Leader position is a career-oriented role designed to develop leadership skills in a dynamic retail environment focused on guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

The Food & Beverage Team Leader is responsible for guiding and managing a team of hourly associates to achieve the department’s sales and service goals. A key focus of this role is delivering a guest-first culture, where freshness, food safety, and quality are paramount. The Team Leader ensures that every team member understands target guest experience commitments and consistently meets operational standards. This position requires a hands-on leader who actively coaches, trains, and evaluates team members while fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and growth.

This role involves daily planning and execution of workload assignments that align with food and beverage priorities, including merchandising, pricing accuracy, promotional displays, and inventory management. The Team Leader monitors area sales trends, guest behaviors, and operational results to identify improvement opportunities and implements strategies that enhance both guest experience and business performance. Collaboration with store leadership and vendor partnerships is essential to maintain product availability, brand standards, and compliance with all food safety regulations.

In addition to managing day-to-day processes, the Food & Beverage Team Leader helps support various guest services such as cashier backup, order pickup, and drive-up service. The position also requires accountability for safety and compliance standards, fostering an inclusive culture, and sometimes acting as the store leader on duty. Required certifications such as Food Safety Manager Certification are necessary, along with completion of specialized brand training when applicable.

With a starting pay range of $24.00 to $26.00 per hour and a full pay range extending up to $40.80 per hour depending on factors like experience, education, and certifications, this is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to grow within Target’s retail operations. Target offers a competitive benefits package including comprehensive health insurance options, 401(k) plans, employee discounts, paid time off, and more. Ultimately, the Food & Beverage Team Leader role combines operational leadership with a passion for food service to deliver memorable guest experiences in a fast-paced retail setting.
