The Food and Beverage Operations Supervisor position at the Miramar Cultural Center\u007cArtsPark is a critical supervisory and operational role within the Banquet Services Division, reporting directly to the Banquet Manager. This full-time role carries the responsibility of overseeing daily food and beverage service operations, including concessions and banquet hall services. The supervisor is tasked with ensuring that all food and beverage offerings meet stringent quality standards, comply with health and safety regulations, and align with the organizational goals of the Cultural Affairs Department.

This position is tailored for a professional with substantial experience in food and beverage management within a hospitality or culinary setting. The role requires a hands-on leader who can not only oversee staff but also step into culinary roles when needed, demonstrating flexibility and operational expertise. The Food and Beverage Operations Supervisor will manage event staff scheduling, menu development, inventory control, and cost management. Job Requirements

  • Must have an Associate's degree in food service management, hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related field
  • must have at least four years experience in food and beverage, culinary or related professional hospitality industry or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • must have certification as a Certified Food Manager
  • ServSafe and/or Food Handler credentials or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment
  • must be able to follow written and oral instructions
  • must be able to express directions both written and oral
  • must have previous banquet hall-related experience and management experience in food and beverage services
  • must understand importance of cost controls
  • must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire
  • subject to annual background screening and biannual health physical
  • must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • must have strong knowledge of Florida, Federal, and local employment laws
  • must be able to resolve conflicts efficiently

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Approve and maintain accurate documentation of all booked activities
  • assist in creating and developing menus, beverage lists and prices, and select condiments, linens, uniforms, and décor
  • establish and maintain effective internal controls for the Banquet Services Division
  • schedule on-call event staff to support event needs
  • oversee event planning
  • track and retain information on venue usage and consumption
  • place orders regarding beverage and bar needs
  • maintain accurate records regarding order placement
  • maintain up-to-date knowledge of local competition and industry trends
  • maintain liaison with the General Manager of MCC
  • manage relationships between contractors and support program operations
  • develop new concepts to ensure high quality of food and beverage services
  • recommend equipment and alternate uses of venue to support building goals
  • respond to client needs during sales process
  • be present on site during events including after hours and holidays
  • assist with the selection of all food and beverage products
  • standardize portions and control food, beverage, and labor costs
  • minimize legal liability and comply with alcohol beverage regulations
  • work in the capacity of Chef to control culinary aspects
  • implement sanitation practices
  • ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • perform related duties as required
  • prepare and maintain banquet hall services and concessions areas, budget, records and reports
  • submit purchase orders and maintain inventory
  • respond to customer inquiries and complaints
  • assist with special events as assigned
