The opportunity currently available is with Shaner Hotels at their AC Hotel Dayton location, situated in the vibrant Water Street District of Dayton, Ohio. This hotel boasts 134 guest rooms and offers spectacular views of the Dayton Dragons baseball stadium from its rooftop bar and restaurant, as well as from guest rooms, promising a unique hospitality experience for both guests and staff. The role open is that of a Food and Beverage Manager, a pivotal leadership position integral to the success of the hotel’s food and beverage operations.

As the Food and Beverage Manager, you will oversee all food and beverage services, ensuring exceptional guest service and operational excellence across various outlets. This role demands a strong focus on maintaining high hospitality standards and fostering a service-driven management philosophy that promotes teamwork and staff performance. The manager will be responsible for directing daily departmental operations, coordinating activities, and ensuring that service delivery is efficient, effective, and meets the hotel's standards. The position requires a hands-on leader who can recruit, train, develop, and coach staff, assigning schedules and responsibilities that align with business needs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience in food and beverage industry
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Food safety certification such as ServSafe
  • Alcohol awareness training like TIPS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math and budgeting skills
  • Ability to handle guest complaints professionally
  • Ability to read safety and procedure manuals
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in the restaurant food and beverage field
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests management and co-workers to their understanding
  • High school graduate or equivalent some college preferred
  • ServSafe and or food safety training
  • Alcohol awareness training such as TIPS
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations and use required measurement tools
  • Ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls
  • Bilingual English Spanish a plus
  • Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele

Job Duties

  • Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
  • Ensures compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Food and Beverage Department
  • Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel Shaner and Franchise specifications
  • Establishes maintains and trains standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department
  • Responsible for responding and handling guest related issues pertaining to the department
  • Ensures communication with General Manager all other Department Managers Supervisors and Staff
  • Manages all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
