Job Description

HEI Hotels and Resorts manages an unparalleled portfolio of leading full-service branded hotels along with luxury and lifestyle independent hotels across the United States. As an industry leader, HEI specializes in upper-upscale, luxury, and premium select-service hotels located in urban, super-suburban, and destination areas. With a focus on delivering exceptional hospitality experiences, HEI is committed to excellence in hotel management and providing guests with outstanding service and amenities. The company attributes its significant success to its greatest asset: its people. Recognizing the importance of its workforce, HEI prioritizes competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and access to industry-leading tools, training, and support to empower associates to excel in their roles.

The Food and Beverage Manager-in-Training (MIT) program at HEI Hotels and Resorts offers a unique and fast-track career development opportunity tailored for recent college graduates passionate about pursuing a career in hospitality management. This 12-month immersive program is designed to provide participants with comprehensive exposure to all facets of the Food and Beverage discipline within a hotel setting. Trainees will gain hands-on experience by shadowing leaders across various outlets, banquets, and culinary departments, as well as participating actively in these operations.

The program aims to build a strong foundational skill set that prepares individuals for a rewarding long-term career within HEI. As part of the training, participants will complete shifts in multiple roles within hotel outlets and banquet services, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of food and beverage operations. They will develop proficiency in operational systems such as property management systems and labor management tools, important for controlling labor costs and optimizing scheduling. The role also demands excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers, address any service issues, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and quality.

Additionally, trainees will attend departmental and leadership meetings to gain insight into organizational strategies and operational standards. They will learn the specific steps of service for all meal periods and ensure strict adherence to company policies and food and beverage standard operating procedures. Regular attendance and reliability are essential, reflecting the professional standards expected of the MIT program participants.

HEI values diversity and inclusion and encourages candidates from varied backgrounds to apply, including those whose experiences may not perfectly align with every qualification listed. U.S. military experience is highly regarded and welcomed, emphasizing HEI's commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive workforce.

The compensation for the Food and Beverage MIT position ranges from $17.00 to $25.00 per hour. This position is non-tipped and not eligible for discretionary performance bonuses, aligning with HEI's transparent and fair compensation philosophy. The benefits package is comprehensive and designed to support the physical, mental, and financial wellness of employees. Medical and dental insurance are provided through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, with vision coverage via EyeMed. Employees also benefit from vacation, sick, and holiday programs to encourage rest and rejuvenation. Additional benefits include pet insurance through the ASPCA, life insurance options including supplemental, spousal, and child coverage, and short- and long-term disability plans.

To support employees' financial wellness, HEI offers a 401(k) savings plan with matching funds, along with discounts through exclusive programs such as 'YouDecide' and hotel room discounts. HEI Hotels and Resorts is committed to equal employment opportunities and non-discriminatory hiring practices, ensuring all applicants are evaluated fairly regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. This initiative underscores HEI's pledge to creating a workplace where every associate feels valued and empowered to grow their career.
