Effective communication with the Regional Operations Manager is critical, particularly concerning safety, security concerns, guest issues, and policy violations. The Floating General Manager plays a key role in financial stewardship by helping meet budgets through cost and inventory controls and maximizing the financial performance of the properties.
This position demands significant travel, approximately 90% within the market, often requiring overnight stays at various properties. Job Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Current auto insurance and a functioning automobile
- Read, speak, write and understand English
- Ability to interpret information found in reports and internal hotel information
- Sufficient mathematical skills for forecasts, reports, revenue calculations, and cash balancing
- General computer proficiency
- Ability and flexibility to work long hours
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Ability to perform physical activities including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception
- Extensive hand manipulation for office equipment
- Willingness to travel 90% of the time with possible overnight stays
Job Qualifications
- Possess thorough knowledge of front office and related department operations, service standards and techniques, guest relations and etiquette, up selling techniques
- Possess the knowledge and ability to perform a variety of front office and related positions
- Ability to compose and express thoughts clearly
- Ability to manage multiple activities often in stressful situations
- Ability to organize one’s work and the efforts of others
- Ability to make effective judgments on all facets of front office operations and staff
- High school diploma preferred but not required
- Minimum 3 years management experience
- Supervisory experience required
- Any combination of education and experience that provides required knowledge and skills
Job Duties
- Operate properties in the absence of a General Manager as needed
- Follow General Manager Daily Flow when acting as a General Manager
- Develop expertise on computer operating systems
- Assist in recruitment of General Managers and other property staff
- Train, develop and support property staff
- Drive sales through sales calls and local marketing as directed
- Ensure and provide excellent guest service
- Identify and manage repair and maintenance issues
- Identify and follow up on life/safety and inspection issues
- Notify Regional Operations Manager immediately of any safety, security, or violations of policy
- Notify Regional Operations Manager of any guest concerns
- Monitor competitors in markets as directed by the Regional Operations Manager
- Help meet budgets through effective cost and inventory control
- Help properties maximize financial performance
- Travel and/or overnight stay as required
