The Float Cook/Float Chef role at Heritage Senior Living is a critical position that requires flexibility to work across various locations, including Lake Country, Waukesha, Milwaukee, and Port Washington areas. This position demands a caring and compassionate attitude, strong customer service skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The role involves food preparation, cooking, plating, and ensuring that dietary needs and sanitation standards are strictly adhered to according to instructions from the executive chef and sous chef.

Individuals in this role will deliver exceptional customer service to residents, visitors, and staff while maintaining comfort, privacy, and dignity for all residents. They must work collaboratively within a team and take direction effectively to meet the unique dietary requirements of each resident. Flexibility in scheduling is a prominent feature of this job, with shifts that end no later than 7 P.M., which fosters a good work-life balance. Job Requirements

  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • High school diploma, GED, or 1-3 months related experience or training preferred
  • Must submit and pass all applicable pre-employment and annual tests and meet all training and other applicable state and federal guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, cooking, plating, culinary arts, and/or hospitality is preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Thorough understanding of sanitation and infection control practices

Job Duties

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff
  • Adhere to menus and recipes, special dietary needs, correct portioning of food, food presentation, and proper serving methods as instructed by the executive chef
  • Attend to residents' individual dietary needs when taking and delivering food orders from residents and their guests
  • Maintain comfort, privacy, and dignity of our residents
  • Work under the supervision of and take instruction from the executive chef and sous chef
