The In-Store Shopper role at Whole Foods Market is integral to delivering an exceptional customer experience through preparing customer orders for delivery and pickup. This position requires team members who are detail-oriented and able to efficiently and accurately fulfill online orders using handheld or fixed devices. The role involves shopping for everyday goods including produce, meat, dairy, household items, prepared foods, specialty cheeses, wine, and beer, ensuring each order is completed with precision and care. Flexibility is vital for success in this position, as shoppers must be available to work during peak hours including weekends, early mornings, evenings, holidays, and the busy holiday season from November through January. Schedules are provided two weeks in advance, with shifts generally lasting between 4 to 8 hours.

Working as an In-Store Shopper involves more than just order fulfillment; it requires maintaining an organized staging area, handling order returns and pickups, adhering to government regulations such as age verification for restricted items, and supporting various store operations including promotional events and safety protocols. Team members in this role are expected to collaborate respectfully, communicate clearly, and contribute positively to the work environment. Ongoing training and meetings ensure that shoppers remain informed about company programs, technology advancements, and product knowledge to continually enhance the customer experience.

This entry-level position does not require prior retail experience, though a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with proficiency in English to effectively prepare orders. Physical stamina is necessary as shoppers stand and walk for extended periods, lift items up to 50 pounds, and work in varying temperature environments including freezers and warm areas. Compensation for the In-Store Shopper position ranges from $15.00 to $24.40 per hour, commensurate with experience. Job Qualifications

  • no prior retail experience required
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • sufficient English language proficiency to prepare and shop customer orders

Job Duties

  • fulfills online orders efficiently, accurately and with a sense of urgency using handheld technology and/or fixed devices
  • ensure product and order accuracy through meticulous verification and quality control processes
