The restaurant is named after renowned Californian artist Anna R. Valentien and is celebrated for offering seasonal cuisine crafted from the highest quality local ingredients. The Food Server role at A.R. Valentien is a vital one, providing courteous, timely, and professional service to restaurant guests. This is a part-time or full-time employment opportunity with competitive compensation starting at $19.00 per hour. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of related experience or training
  • prior fine dining experience preferred
  • availability to work weekends and holidays
  • must obtain San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire
  • must obtain RBS certification
  • ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • legal authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience and/or training
  • combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement
  • prior experience in a fine dining restaurant environment preferred
  • availability to work on weekends and holidays is required
  • must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire
  • RBS certification required
  • ability to maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude especially under stress or challenges
  • ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods up to the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs
  • compliance with California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq

Job Duties

  • Cordially and professionally presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service
  • employs suggestive selling techniques to stimulate sales
  • actively observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
  • checks with the guest after 3-4 minutes after serving the meals to ensure guest satisfaction
  • follows cash and credit card handling policies at all times
  • is responsible for entire section of tables including cleanliness, sanitation, and organization
  • is responsible for complete knowledge of menus including cooking time and ingredients
  • performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team
