Job Description
Fieldwork Brewing Company, founded in 2015 in Berkeley, California, is a vibrant independent craft brewery dedicated to creating exceptional and honest beers. Over the past decade, Fieldwork Brewing has expanded its presence across Northern California, establishing community-focused locations known not only for their award-winning brews but also for their thoughtful approach to hospitality. Among its notable locations is the Napa, California establishment situated in the Oxbow Public Market, an inviting culinary destination that attracts locals and visitors alike. This Napa site, which opened in 2017, operates from the Annex building and boasts a spacious outdoor beer garden, enhancing the social and lively atmosphere for guests to enjoy a variety of craft beers, wine selections, and non-alcoholic beverages. The company is also preparing to relaunch its food program, spotlighting Detroit-style pizza and shareable menu items designed to complement their diverse drink offerings.
The Fieldwork Brewing Associate role in Napa is a part-time, non-exempt position uniquely crafted for hospitality enthusiasts who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments. This hands-on role blends front-of-house guest engagement with active food service participation. The key to success in this position lies in excellent customer service skills, the ability to anticipate and meet guest needs proactively, and a collaborative spirit to support team members across different operational areas. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, taking orders efficiently, managing food and beverage delivery, handling payments through the POS system, and ensuring the space remains clean and welcoming. Additionally, associates participate directly in food preparation aligning with company standards, which highlights the significance of multitasking and adaptability.
A deep knowledge of the company’s current beer selections, food menu, and non-alcoholic options including detailed awareness of ingredients and allergens, is essential. Furthermore, associates are expected to educate guests on beer styles, suggest food pairings, and comply fully with alcohol service laws such as the Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and ABC regulations. Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and health compliance is mandatory. The role also demands a professional, positive demeanor when interacting with guests, coworkers, and management, alongside flexibility in scheduling including availability on weekends and holidays.
Compensation for this part-time position includes an hourly wage of $16.90 with additional income from tips via a shared tip pool. Compliance with California labor laws ensures employees receive appropriate overtime, meal periods, and rest breaks. Fieldwork Brewing Company prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to workplace inclusivity and providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and those with sincerely held religious beliefs. Joining the Fieldwork team means becoming part of a dynamic, community-driven company dedicated to quality craft beer and memorable hospitality experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to grow in the hospitality industry while engaging with an enthusiastic and diverse clientele in a thriving market environment.
