The role of Field Safety Representative I at Baker Construction is critical to maintaining and enhancing the company’s strong safety culture. This position focuses on ensuring every employee returns home safely each day by promoting and embedding the company’s “IIF” (Injury and Illness Free) culture on project sites. The Field Safety Representative spends 100 percent of their time in the field, actively observing work conditions and coaching team members to correct unsafe behaviors and environments. By providing hands-on safety leadership and acting as a trusted safety resource, the representative helps improve project safety, quality, and productivity.

In this position, the Field Safety Representative will collaborate closely with diverse project teams, assisting with compliance to safety rules and regulations, conducting case management, and leading safety training initiatives. They identify hazards, recognize safe work practices, and share lessons learned to reinforce positive behaviors. This role requires a strategic and proactive approach, with the ability to dive into complex challenges and contribute meaningfully to the overall success of the projects.

Candidates for this role must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or have a minimum of four years of concrete construction experience along with prior experience as a Field Safety Coordinator. The successful candidate will also need to obtain OSHA 30-hour certification within their first three months on the job. Travel up to 25 percent is expected, reflecting the position’s field-based nature and the need to engage directly with multiple project locations.
