The Residence Inn by Marriott Berkeley, part of the Pyramid Global Hospitality family, is an energizing hotel located in the heart of Downtown Berkeley, California. Standing 17 stories high, the hotel features 331 suites equipped with fully stocked kitchens and separate living areas, ideal for guests seeking comfort and convenience. The property offers over 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Guests can enjoy a rooftop restaurant and bar boasting spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay Area. Perfectly situated half a block from the Downtown Berkeley BART station and numerous bus routes, Residence Inn Berkeley provides ease of commute for both guests and employees. The Food Runner position at Residence Inn Berkeley is full-time, paying $20.00 per hour. The position focuses on the efficient, timely delivery of food service to guests, supporting dining operations by ensuring tables are properly set, cleared, and cleaned. Teamwork, superior guest service, and adherence to cleanliness and operational policies are essential elements of this role. The Food Runner assists servers by managing table service needs including serving beverages, breads, and butter, as well as maintaining and stocking service stations throughout meal periods. The role demands physical stamina to carry trays and items up to 30 pounds and requires flexibility to work various shifts, mainly concentrating on the dinner hours. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to carry trays and move items weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift schedule to include weekdays, weekends, AM, PM, split shifts, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to memorize table numbers and seat numbers
  • Capability to work with a team-oriented mindset
  • Experience in a similar food service role preferred but not required
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Good physical stamina and ability to carry trays and lift up to 30 pounds
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate your ability to be a team player
  • Run food to table in a timely and efficient manner
  • Set up and clear tables, stock all service stations and assist servers with table service to ensure total guest satisfaction
  • Quickly clear dirty table settings and prepare table for resetting
  • Promptly and consistently reset all service-ware as prescribed
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods with necessary equipment including silverware, linen and condiments
  • Serve guests with beverages, breads and butter to begin their dining experience and replenish as necessary
  • Practice "Teamwork" and "Clean as you go" policies
  • Transport all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area for proper cleaning
  • Attend monthly departmental meetings
  • Memorize table numbers and seat numbers of the dining room and bar
  • Follow opening & closing side work sheet for food runner position
  • Demonstrate superior teamwork skills- this position interfaces with many different members of the team
  • Always provide the highest quality of service to guests
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary by management
