Job Description
Scholastic Inc. is a global leader in publishing, education, and media, committed to advancing literacy and fostering a love of learning among children and educators worldwide. Known for providing educational materials and programs that engage young learners, Scholastic supports the growth and development of students through innovative, age-appropriate books and resources. As a trusted partner of schools and families, Scholastic has impacted countless children’s lives by making reading accessible and enjoyable. With a mission rooted deeply in literacy and education, Scholastic leverages its extensive experience to empower schools with tools and services that inspire students to become lifelong readers and learners.
The Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator position at Scholastic offers a unique opportunity to join an organization dedicated to helping children build stronger reading skills through its renowned Book Fair programs. This role is integral to expanding and supporting Scholastic Book Fairs across a defined territory, focusing on engaging schools, driving event bookings, maximizing fair performance, and nurturing long-term relationships with school customers. Scholastic Book Fairs are vibrant, community-centered events that not only provide children access to books but also create meaningful experiences for students, families, and educators. These fairs serve as a celebration of reading, bringing together entire school communities to inspire and encourage a lifelong passion for books.
As a Sales Consultant and Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for owning a portfolio of school accounts and managing the end-to-end execution of successful Book Fairs. This includes driving new bookings and rebooking opportunities, working closely with school hosts to enhance traffic, engagement, and sales, and coaching on merchandising and promotional strategies that elevate each fair's impact. The role requires a blend of sales expertise and event execution skills, with accountability for meeting key performance metrics such as fair count, revenue, and revenue per fair. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to deliver consistent, high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are essential.
This position is full-time, hourly, and remote, allowing employees to work from home while contributing meaningfully to Scholastic’s mission. The pay range is $22 to $26 per hour, with the potential to earn additional seasonal and annual incentives through a robust sales compensation program. Alongside competitive pay, employees are offered comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a generous paid time off program, a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and the possibility of having summers off, making it an attractive career opportunity for individuals passionate about sales, education, and literacy.
Joining Scholastic means becoming part of a dedicated team that impacts the future of education by empowering children to discover the joy of reading. If you are motivated by connecting with educational communities, excelling in sales and event coordination, and driving positive learning outcomes, this role offers a fulfilling career path within a mission-driven company committed to lifelong literacy.
