The Facility Services Representative position is located at the Palmer Events Center, a premier public assembly and event facility in Austin, Texas. This role plays a pivotal part in the successful execution of conventions, trade shows, and other large-scale events by providing direct support, information, instruction, and assistance to clients, visitors, and event coordinators. Operating under direct supervision, this position requires a proactive and detail-oriented approach to managing facility operations including security, safety, client coordination, and emergency responses. This role operates on a rotating shift schedule from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., requiring availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. The salary range for this position is competitive, from $22.05 to $24.26 per hour, reflecting the importance of the responsibilities involved.

In this capacity, the Facility Services Representative assists clients with move-in and move-out activities, monitors facility entry and exit points, performs lock-down procedures, and oversees facility security and fire systems to ensure the safety and security of all patrons and staff. The representative acts as a critical communication link with event coordinators, managing event updates, special client needs, and changes effectively. They also enforce facility policies, safety protocols, and operational procedures, ensuring a smooth and secure event experience for all attendees. Moreover, this role demands the ability to coordinate emergency responses, including evacuations, underscoring the importance of vigilance and preparedness in public assembly settings.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a thorough knowledge of facility and event coordination, customer service principles, federal, state, and local legal requirements, city policies, and safety practices. Strong communication skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, and competency in using computer software including Microsoft Office are essential. The position requires an associate’s degree with at least one year of public event or related experience, though a combination of education and equivalent professional experience may be considered. A Texas Class C Driver’s License or equivalent is necessary, along with a successful criminal background check.

Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree

Job Duties
